dots for iPhone and iPad · Effective November 7, 2026

dots is built to keep your notes yours. The app does not collect, sell or share any personal data, and it contains no ads, analytics or tracking.

Your notes and canvases

Everything you write in dots is stored on your device. If you are signed in to iCloud, dots also keeps a copy in your private iCloud database so your canvases stay in sync across your devices. That data is stored by Apple under your Apple Account and is covered by Apple's Privacy Policy. The developer of dots cannot see or access it.

You can turn off iCloud sync for dots at any time in the Settings app under your name › iCloud. Deleting a canvas in the app removes it from your devices and from iCloud. Deleting the app removes the data stored on that device.

Home Screen widget

The dots widget shows a picture of one of your canvases. To do this, the app saves a small preview in storage shared only between the app and its widget on your device. It never leaves your device.

Photos

When you share a canvas and choose to save it to Photos, dots asks for permission to add images to your photo library. It only adds the picture you chose to save. dots never reads your existing photos.

Sharing

When you share a canvas, dots creates an image and hands it to the app you pick in the share sheet. What happens next is up to that app and its own privacy policy.

Feedback

If you send feedback by email, we receive your email address and whatever you choose to write. We use it only to read and reply to your message, and we delete it on request.

Children

dots does not knowingly collect information from anyone, including children under 13.

Changes

If this policy changes, the new version will be posted on this page with a new effective date.
